Doug Sayre's newest animation project, Re\Envisioned

D. Sayre - Re\EnvisionedGameTap has created a new original animated series, "Re\Visioned", for GameTap TV. This all-new animated series explores and reimagines well known video game franchises. The first season features interpretations of video gaming’s leading lady, Lara Croft, by well-known animators, comic book artists and writers, to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Tomb Raider franchise and the release of the new Tomb Raider: Anniversary game.

To create "Re\Visioned: Tomb Raider" GameTap producer and writer Elliot Blake and executive producer Chris Peeler commissioned Doug Sayre to direct and animate the one-minute 3D promotional commercial for the series. The first episode in this original animation series will debut on July 10th with new episodes running through August 23rd. There are 10 episodes in total and they will be available to view for free at GameTap.com.

Doug Sayre’s film career spans over thirty years, starting in 1976 as a grip on the TV show SWAT and several feat ure films. He spent several years as a Navy cinematographer and served as the White House film editor for the Carter administration. Sayre continued on as an operating cameraman and DP’ed several national spots for Wendy’s, Pepsi and Roy Rogers. In the eighties at the start of the computer era Sayre joined Cubicomp Vertigo, one of the first companies in the world to produce computer animation software and hardware and traveled the world as their VFX instructor training new customers and helping to create their first animations. Doug settled In LA spending many very productive years at Digital Domain where he earned several Clios for his commercial work. Sayre left DD and began sub-contracting feature shots for shows like Blade and Spy Kids and commercials and continues to do so today.

Space Coast Chapter Project Spotlight

Sue Dontell, chapter president, and Bill Williams, chapter EVP, joined forces to produce a romantic comedy titled, Hoity Toity. It stars FMPTA members Carole Wood and Jim Greene. With the help of many volunteer FMPTA members, the project finished shooting and is awaiting editing. Working FMPTA crew members included Sue Dontell, Bill Williams, John O’Hara, Susan O’Hara, Carole Ferrill, Melody Hunter, and Brad Hunter. Non-members who helped included Tom Farrar, two alligators and a snake.

Also, board member, Tony Walters, wrote a short, Blessed, which was shot in June. This was a FMPTA project through our newly formed Sure Shot Productions. FMPTA members performing in the project included Carole Wood, Jim Greene and Chip Gillespie. Several members worked crew on that project including John O’Hara, Susan O’Hara, Sue Dontell, Tony Walters, Bill Williams, Melody Hunter, Brad Hunter, Doug Sayre, Eric Emerick and Jane Ridenour. Non-members who helped included Rick Smith, Joe Gray and Lynn Gray. This project will be headed to editing soon as well.

Special Spotlight

FMPTA congratulates Marshall Entertainment Insurance, Inc. @ Universal Studios, Florida for insuring the 34th Annual Daytime Emmys. The show was held at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, California on June 15, 2007 and broadcast on CBS. Karen Marshall, President of Marshall Entertainment Insurance, has been a corporate member of FMPTA since 1993 and provi8des coverage for film, theatrical, and multi media companies.

Other recent projects insured by Marshall are the NFL Kickoff, NFL Thanksgiving Show, Super Bowl XLI, The Library of Congress Lifetime Achievement Award Show, Hagan Knows Best, and the upcoming Boston Pops 4th of July Spectacular.
